National Cartoon Exhibition 2016

From teasing smile and a sarcastic twist caused by the absurdities in our lives - caricature is laconic commentary, sometimes a sentence, sometimes just a friendly cartoon.
This year the section "Cartoon" at UBA gathers artists with the most rapid response to problems and events. The opening will be handed out several awards:

40th National Cartoon Exhibition 2015

The national cartoon exhibition is a traditional event - an annual review of the highest achievements of contemporary Bulgarian artists working in various genres of caricature. It’s organized by the Cartoon Section at the Union of Bulgarian Artists.

The exhibition aims to stimulate the development of the art of cartoon in Bulgaria and to contribute to promoting the work of Bulgarian cartoonists.

The exhibition has gathered recent works by artists known from the press. The topics are diverse as always, inspired by everyday life, politics, the problems of modern man. Political satire and caricatures of celebrities represent a significant portion of the displayed work

133 years from the birth of Vladimir Dimitrov - Maistora

Art Gallery "Vladimir Dimitrov - Maistora" - Kyustendil

Opening - 1st of February, 11 a. m.

This year we celebrate 133 years since the birth of the great artist. The Art Gallery "Vladimir Dimitrov - Maystora" will mark the anniversary with a new permanent exhibition , but in a separate hall will be presented works of the artist, framed with a donation of Svilen Blazhev.

On the day of the event will be declared the winner of the National Prize for Painting in the name of Master 2015.

Traditionally, will be an exhibition of the previous winner of the award - Svilen Blazhev. It is the result of his creative work in 2014 and aims to cover the whole ideas and issues that concern the author.

7th International Print Art Triennial – Sofia 2014

Opening - 10th of November, 6 p.m.

From 10th to 30th of November in all the exhibition halls at the gallery on the UBA at "Shipka" 6 Str. will be exhibited the Seventh International Print Art Triennial - Sofia, 2014. The event, which has a 20 -year-old history is determined as a current platform for global, contemporary graphics and is among the most important international events in the field of the visual arts in Bulgaria.

On the occasion of the event here arrived as curators and jury significant figures from the world contemporary print art: Jose Gides, Brazil; Henry Klein, USA; Breda Skrânec, Slovenia; Mark Frizing , Luxembourg.

The triennial is organized by the Union of Bulgarian Artists, section "Graphics and Illustration”, held with the support of the "Culture" and "Mobility" Programs of Sofia Municipality and in cooperation with the embassies of Brazil and the US in Bulgaria.

A part of the Triennial is the discussion "The modern print art - between the traditional and digital technologies" which will be held on 11th of November at 11.00 am.

4th National Competition of "Allianz Bulgaria" for painting, sculpture and print art

Opening - 7th of October, 6 p.m.

On 7th of October 2014 in Sofia will be officially opened the final exhibition of the National Competition Allianz Bulgaria for painting, sculpture and print art, when the winners will be awarded. The final exhibition contest is involving all winners and nominated authors from the six regional exhibitions held in the period 2013-2014.

The jury has the right to determine what works to be presented each author. In the final exhibition the artists participate with works that are not being awarded in the regional exhibitions.

First national exhibition of the bulgarian comics

The first national exhibition of the Bulgarian comics is opened in the House of Humor and Satire - Gabrovo, on 1 April at 5.30 p.m. The event is a part of the festive program for April 1 - International Day of humor and jokes, as well as on the occasion of the 42nd birthday of museum "House of Humour and Satire."

Organizers are section "Comics" in the Union of Bulgarian Artists and the "Rainbow Project ".

Second forum "Small graphic forms" - 2013

Opening and official ceremony for awards - 5th of December, "Seasons" Gallery, "Krakra" 2 Str.

The second forum "Small Graphic Forms - Sofia " took place from 5th of December until the end of January 2014 in five galleries in Sofia: "Seasons ", "Algara ", "Suspacious", Institute " Cervantes”, the house of Prof. Vassil Guerov . The main collection, exhibited in the gallery "Seasons " presents 150 graphics from 45 contemporary Bulgarian artists from all artistic generations; series of 10 prints created especially for the event by Peruvian artist Carmen Herrera Nolorve and 5 lithographs of the great Bulgarian artist Stefan Markov.

On 5th of  December, a jury awarded two first prizes and plaque "Stefan Markov " to Veselin Damyanov - Ves and Todor Ovcharov, and awaed for a young artist from "Seasons" Gallery was given  to Angel Istilianov.

Festival of the contemporary ceramics

The fourth edition of the "Festival of Contemporary Ceramics" is organized by the "Ceramics" section at UBA and will be situated in the halls of the gallery-bookshop "Sofia Press" and at the "Debut" Gallery. A peculiar for the traditional annual ceramic exhibitions, which are a feast for artists, ceramists, who celebrated on December 12, his patron - St. Spyridon this forum is a stage of the real state of the ceramic arts.

VII triennial of the stage poster

  • For 1 month (October) for the seventh time the Triennial turns Sofia into a global capital of the poster. The event is a part of the cultural calendar for 2013 and is held in support of the candidature of Sofia for European Capital of Culture - 2019.
  • • The main collection of the Triennial includes 350 poster of artists from 30 countries, representing the best established in the last 3 years in the field of classical and modern theatrical forms in the world.
  • Among the participating artists there are 33 Bulgarians, most of them young and debutants.
  • There will be a world premiere of the nearly 120 posters devoted to special topics of the event marking the 200th anniversary of the great composers Verdi and Wagner.
  • Parallel to the Triennial there are provided a series of accompanying events - collections, revealing different aspects of the art of the poster in its entirety and dynamic variety of visual codes, expressions, styles, printing technologies and current trends.
  • One of the most influential figures in the world of poster (Tomasz Boguslawski, Poland; Peter Poch, Hungary; Dzhiyanping Heh, China / Germany) are arriving in Sofia in order to participate in the international jury for the awards of the Triennial and in the educational program lectures. The special guests of the Triennale are Prof. Lech Majewski - Head of the famous Warsaw Biennale and Renee Uiner - known researcher and collector from Switzerland.
