International Ceramic Festival 2017

01.09.17 - 28.09.17 | Gallery "Raiko Alexiev"

Opening - 1st of September, 6 p.m.

This year, more than 40 participants of different ages will perform in the exhibition. The festival goes out of the guild environment and opens to artists who are not ceramists, but they also use clay as a material in their work. The sculptor Krum Damyanov was invited as an honorary guest for his 80th anniversary, and special guests at the festival are Georgi Donov - sculptor, Zahari Kamenov - print artist, and others.

The festival seeks to stimulate young, debuting ceramics from the National Academy of Arts and the New Bulgarian University (NBU). These awards are also directed to the awards provided by the NBU.


Clay forest - exhibition of Hristo Yonkov

Hristo Yonkov is one of the most famous contemporary ceramics with much participation in national and international exhibitions, plain-airs, ceramic symposiums. Recently is name was related with the High School for Applied Arts in Troyan where he was a director for many years.

The exhibition „Clay forest“ is dedicated to his 70th anniversary and it is a part of the International Contemporary Ceramic Festival. The works in it are created during the last five years and they are inspired from the nature and the architecture. 


Memory from the past - exhibition of Ivan Manoilov

Ivan Manoylov was born on 7th of March 1943 in Lom. He works in the field of landscape, portrait and figural composition.

His works are owned by the National Art Gallery and galleries in Smolyan, Blagoevgrad, Rousse, Dobrich, Vratsa, Montana, Lom, as well as in private collections in Bulgaria, Germany, Austria, Greece, England, USA, Israel, Argentina and others.

Member of the UBA since 1982.


Encho Gankovski

Opening - 2nd of November, 6 p.m.

Although the exhibition of one of the most famous artists of Troyan - Encho Gankovski is in the year of his 70th birthday, he does not seek retrospective presentation. The author has chosen to show new works from the past three years - a hundred ceramic tiles and decorative plastic containers.

The artist has participated in nearly 70 exhibitions, 20 of them are solo. He worked for numerous events with practical character - arranging exhibitions across the country, designing exhibitions and decorative monumental facade and interior panels. They adorn representative and public buildings in Sofia, Pleven, Panagyurishte, Lovech, Troyan, Lukovit, Letnitsa, Goliama Zheliazna.

Outputs to the future

10.12.15 - 31.12.15 | Gallery "Industrialna 11"

Opening - 10th of December, 5.30 p.m.

The exhibition "OUTPUT TO THE FUTURE" is the result of the professional experience in ceramics and porcelain factory "Ideal Standard" in city of Sevlievo during the last three years. The internship is the first of its kind organized for students in ceramics from the High school in the factory site. All 120 items will be presented in one of the most prestigious galleries in Bulgaria - Gallery "Industrialna". The main glaze technique performed at decorating is Prima vista and not subject to adjustment, making it difficult to implement, but is one of the most important in technological meaning.


Christmas Ceramics Exhibition

This event is a project of “Ceramics” department at UBA and it’s a peculiar celebration of the artistic ceramic guild. Maintaining the tradition and seeking for new visual and technological concepts the contemporary artists present their works of chamber character in the hall of the gallery - bookstore "Sofia Press" for the fifth time in the days before Christmas. Diverse in style and imagery ceramic works would be an original gift for any home for lovers of contemporary art.


MESHTRA - exhibition of Atanas Gadzhev, "55 objects from clay and paper"

In a secret speech that is already disappeared - the word "meshtra" means master.

The exhibition is an intimate tribute of the author Atanas Gadjev to his ancestors.

Starting from the one surrounded with mystery linguistic, cultural and social phenomenon, the author makes their artistic interpretations, provoking the imagination and thoughts of the viewer.


VI Festival of the contemporary ceramics 2015

This event is a forum – a meeting of artists from different generations who create their works from the ceramic material, using different technologies and techniques. The exhibition aims to continue the artistic tradition, promoting continuity, demonstrating new aesthetic ideas and deliberating the search of the philosophical expression of plastic and color created by the ceramic material.


Contemporary Ceramic Festival 2014

Opening - 12th of December, 6 p.m.

The fifth edition of the "Festival of contemporary ceramics" is organized by the "Ceramics" section at the UBA and will be presented in the hall of the gallery - bookstore "Sofia Press".

This event is a continuation of the traditional annual ceramics exhibitions that are a feast for the artists - potters. Traditionally, the festival celebrated on 12th of December his patron - Saint Spyridon. This forum is the stage of the actual state of the ceramic art in Bulgaria. The exhibition aims to continue the artistic tradition to establish continuity between different generations of artists, and to demonstrate new techniques and aesthetic matters.

The festival has a competition theme: "The less is more”. Consciously it’s seeking a philosophical expression of plasticity and color created by ceramic material.
