Ice cream and Aviation (2014) is an independent project by the artist Kiril Kuzmanov. It is the denouement of a process of communication and friendship between the artist and the legendary Bulgarian parachute instructor, skydiver, pilot, and prolific model maker Kiro Kirov – a vital part of which is the introduction, for the first time, of his full collection of about 500 wooden aerfplanes in 1:100 scale, created over a period of more than 30 years. It is a collection that maps out in an invaluable and unique way the history of aviation from its birth to present.

The design is a key and influences every part of our lives. The chair on which you sit, the glass from which you drink, the tools, the work environment in the office and the interior at home, the logo of your company, the brochures, the showcases and the stands where you advertise your business - everything is a product of the design.
BULGARIAN DESIGN 2017 aims to present a picture of the development of the design in Bulgaria as a significant indicator of the status of the industry and the business in 2017.

The Gallery-bookstore "Sofia Press" began the year with an exhibition, which is entitled "Beginning." The exhibition includes 24 works from the glass of two artists: Katya Popova and Nikola Enev. The exhibition manages to combine fragile and elusive balance of themes, ideas and temperament. The works were specially made for the gallery space in 2016 and by its specific language expressed reveal new internal spacw and tell parables for elevation and enlightenment of mind.

The International Art Glass Festival is founded in 2010 as one too ambitious project that aims to revive the work with glass in Bulgaria.
There are participating artists from ten European countries - Bulgaria, the UK, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, France, the Netherlands, and Czech Republic. The nature of the festival corresponds with current international practice representing glass as a material applicable to the design, architecture, applied and fine arts, hidden from the world renowned and European art events.
Conducting a qualitative representative exposition of bright achievements of the Bulgarian design will continue the existing traditions and will expand their knowledge and perceptions of the public about the nature and essence of the phenomenon of "Bulgarian design", it will contribute to the continuity of this specific type of artistic activity.
The exhibition in “Rayko Alexiev" Gallery is composed of Bulgarian and American artists. From the americans a strong impression makes Jamie Harris, with his simple vessels, Joseph Cavalieri with his decorative glass, Erica Rosenfeld and especially Christina Bothwell that combines the pop art and the “art brut” in a weird way and in its most direct sense.
The two universities exchange students successfully in these two specialties in the “Erasmus” program and constantly deepened their contacts.
Today, when for third week the creations of the Second Bulgarian Design Biennial are making the halls of the gallery of UBA full of people and attracting hundreds of enthusiastic admirers of the design art, we are ready to make the myth of “the Bulgarian design” as as. Prof. Vasil Stoyanov said a reality and tradition in the cultural life in the capital and the country.
