Union of Bulgarian Artists / Exhibitions / ArchiveVioleta Grivishka - Taneva (1937 - 2017)
This exhibition is a retrospective of the work of the artist Violeta Grivishka-Taneva.
The exhibition includes prints and drawings created during her long creative journey - from the beginning of the 1960s to 2017. There will be presented works from the collections of Iliya Beshkov Art Gallery - Pleven, Sofia City Art Gallery, UBA, as well as unshown works from the author's personal collection.
The thoughtful beginning is a hallmark of the work of Violeta Grivishka. Implemented in a variety of graphic techniques and materials, with accurately painted and clear detail, her prints bring us into a cosmic, ritual, symbolic space, where the rational themes of mythology and Christian religion, folk traditions, parables, and legends get a modern graphic expression.
In the pursuit of her overall creativity, a coherent line is drawn on the themes united in cycles. They are carefully and purposefully developed and step by step transform her works into a peculiar panoptic of our folk heritage and of Christianity, viewed through the importance of Bogomili's doctrine and the critical view of the Old and New Testaments. The composition and the form always lead to moral-ethical conclusions and express the author's ideal for the history of the world and art.
